Business Issue

This company with headquarters in the UK and operations in Europe, the USA and Asia wanted to improve business effectiveness by aligning its three major businesses more closely to their specific markets.  The aim was to achieve greater customer and market orientation and profitability by having three business units with their own specific strategies focused on their particular markets.  The company had a functional organisation structure and a relatively homogeneous culture.

How We Helped

We conducted an organisational diagnosis, using our Organisational Effectiveness Questionnaire (OEQ) which compares current reality with the desired competitive position in relation to business purpose and direction, organisation structure, culture, processes and systems and people.  This was augmented by interviews with board executives and regional managers, to identify the means to restructure, develop relevant business unit strategies and commence change in the ways of working and culture.

Outcomes and Results

Recommendations were delivered for board development and for a new strategic and cultural framework to provide overall company cohesion and enable clear business unit focus to formulate market sector strategies and new management processes.

We then assisted with the development of a new vision, values and performance measures and also provided options for alternative organisation structures.
