Subsidiary of American Bank – Principal Clients: Country Manager and Head of Human Resources

Business Issue

A new Country Manager who had been appointed to this substantial London based subsidiary of a large American Bank, wanted to develop the executive team’s purpose and align it to the parent organisation’s vision.  Particular aims for achievement included a cultural assessment to identify needs for change, team development for the executive team to create common purpose and shape a leadership approach for change, together with a framework for business performance.

How We Helped

We conducted executive meetings to develop an objective picture of current reality among the executive team and to understand individual members’ perspectives, ambitions and possible concerns.  Following discussions with the Country Manager and the Head of Human Resources, we designed 2 two-day workshops; the first focusing on common purpose, culture and commencing team development, the second on values, success factors for the London based business and objectives for the medium term.  Team development activities were interspersed throughout the programme.

Outcomes and Results Achieved

A new framework for the London business was developed including a shared agreement on common purpose, success factors and goals for the medium term. Change strategies were agreed to provide a basis for modifying the culture and actions identified for progressing further team development.  Actions were also planned to communicate the new management framework to the next levels and the London organisation as a whole.

Subsequently the Head of Operations asked us to design and facilitate a similar Workshop Programme for his managers as part of the change implementation process.
